As I've shared about my classmates' works in the previous post. I want to talk about my own here.
A rich man's death.
The juxtaposition of permanent and impermanent materials represent the fragility of human life as opposed to imperishable material gold. It portrays the saying that wealth cannot be brought along into the coffin when one dies.
My work is the juxtaposition between permanence and impermanence, the model is placed such a way that a skull in lying in a bed of gold. The paper mache skull emphasizes that human life is impermanent as paper is easily destroyable. Whereas the gold coins are made of gold aluminium foil signifying the permanence of material things that cannot be brought along when one dies as gold is known to be a permanent metal.
