Week 5- Spaghetti tower to balance marshmellow

Group members: Andrienna, TongSheng, Aurelia
In this activity we are supposed to form the highest tower with spaghetti and blue-tack , sturdy enough to support a marshmallow to be eaten. We started off with a great height but realised it would be too difficult to hold the weight of the marshmallow.
Hence, we compromised the height and created a stronger support on the base which was able to hold the marshmallow.
It remained stable even after the marshmallow was eaten! Yay!

 Anticipating the exercise next week!

The class visited SAM during 2d fundamentals. There was an interesting exhibition going on, even showcasing one of our schoolmate's work. Another was a room filled with doodles. It was interesting to be able to see and read the things up close so as to understand what the art work was about.

Week4- Food made from 2 weird combination

Group members: Sherry, Jennifer, Aqirah

We had to create dishes using only 2 ingredients. Our group was given soy sauce and bread. We thought of very original ideas like Soy sauce thosai, youtiao with soy sauce dip and many others. We had to come up with a menu consisting of a starter, main course and dessert. We chose deep fried bread with concentrated soy sauce as dip, Soy curry with bread and lastly, soy lava cake. This exercise got our brains thinking, it was interesting as i found out some dishes may sound revolting but surprisingly, there were a few that i might try. The other groups also came up with very fresh ideas of dishes made with other weird combinations.

Tried Charlie Brown Cafe at Cineleisure for the first time! The snoopy lava cake did not taste special but the appearance was cute! They covered the base of the cake with icing to make a white background and then imprinted the snoopy image with chocolate powder. The interior of the shop was also very customized and had charlie brown characters all over, in the form of a physical mascot, prints on the floor, and even a tv playing the cartoon.

Week 3

En route to Esplanade Theatre, there is an interesting exhibition in the linkway. I think it attracts Singaporean's attention as these are sights we see in common HDB area, this exhibition touches the heart of locals, I feel that it is a great way to promote such projects during our nation's birthday.

Supply & Demand is a pleasant place for dinner. I visited the outlet at Esplanade and chose outdoor dining. It was on the day before National Day so we could hear the last rehearsal for the NDP. This restaurant also has a rooftop bar, which I have yet to see. The presentation of the food is classy and the menu comes with cool illustration of the meat as seen in the photo below.

La Ristrettos is a cafe located in Novena Medical Centre. It serves good coffee and afforable food. The cappucino ($5), scallop linguine ($14.90) and Grande Breakfast ($14). The interior of the cafe is extremely unique, it has a communal table in the middle and a large glass façade that faces the outdoor garden, with Al fresco dining on the outside.

Week 2

Pasta Box serves fresh pasta cooked in minutes, these boxes make a refreshing concept! I have visited the outlet at Clementi which was rather small but still quiet and cozy during non-peak hours.

Following the opening of the outlet at West Gate, Four Fingers Crispy Chicken is now even more popular. Four Fingers was brought up by 4 Singaporean friends after being inspired by the taste of Korean fried chicken in New York. This week, I tried the Soy Garlic Chicken and Seaweed fries which I think were good for the price.

Tried Gula Melaka shaved ice for the first time. The taste of Gula Melaka is indeed unique and more exotic compared to normal white sugar or the colored syrup in Ice Kachang.

Toms n toms coffee is my to-go place when in need of a quiet cafe with nice food.

Visited 18 Chefs at The Cathay during a lunch break as it is near to the school. The student meal was extremely affordable. $6.40 for a main course, a drink and a cup of ice cream. Value for money!
